Love this trainer
By KDub (Traverse City, MI) on Feb 19, 2013
The TDF trainer simulates the road more than any other trainer I've ridden. I love the Tour Stage Training, it motivates me to push harder and vary the resistance. This bike really gives you the feel that you're on the road. It's well built so you don't feel like it's going to fall apart beneath ... (Read more)

Works great,but-----
By Jeffski (Buffalo,NY) on Jan 13, 2012
Excellent workout,TDF rides quite tough.
But, electronics not to easy to navigate. Had problems establishing ifit acct. Finally resolved. Also had problems with heart rate monitor purchased from preform online. In spite of probs, the phone techs worked hard to resolve issues.
Time to quit crabbing... (Read more)
Map local routes
By Dr. Metal (West Des Moines) on Jan 14, 2012
I was able to upload a local gravel road ride using google maps. This course has some good short climbs. The automatic incline was great. It did feel realitively similar to actual ride except for breathing gravel dust from passing cars. Impressive.
Gen 1.5
By Polobear (Northern Colorado) on Jan 26, 2012
I got mine when they were transitioning between generations. I have the old generation 1 seat bracket (-1), the new console (+1) and the new handlebar shifters (love).
I don't really like the old bracket that holds the seat because I can feel my thighs touch it when I'm pedaling. The new one look... (Read more)
Perfect Indoor Trainer
By RenoRider (Reno,NV) on Jan 29, 2012
I ride 150+ miles a week, I bought the TDF indoor trainer because I wanted the same training experience that I got outside on my road bike. I've tried other fixed place trainers and didn't get the same realistic feeling as I do on the TDF Gen 2. I know I will get superior results using the TDF train... (Read more)
So far so good
By TampaTour-ist (Tampa, FL) on Mar 25, 2012
The bike was very easy to set up, and despite what everyone else had to say about the complications of setting up the ifit link, mine went off without a hitch. Some aspects of the assembly were a pain (like screwing on the handlebar cover), but I managed it by myself, so obviously it wasn't that dif... (Read more)
The best bike ever!!
By LUIS (Mx) on May 5, 2012
Easy to setup, just a few minutes to upgrade firmware, and start riding ! Ifit is great , with my iPhone i can see live street view of my route. I put my polar HR sensor and the display inmediatly show my HR, no setup required, the most complete and fun exercise bike ever!
Great Customer support
By Dtrunner (St george,) on May 25, 2012
I love my bike. I can connect reliably to the internet and download my ironman bike courses and practice them before the event. I never miss a workout. I do need some repair on the bike but the customer service has been great. I have some suggestions, I guess I wonder if we really need the incli... (Read more)
Awesome Ride
By Tour de Palm Springs (Chicago, IL) on Jan 15, 2013
Nothing short of the closest to riding outside. You don't get to cheat with this spin bike like you do with a regular spin bike or your own on a trainer. A hill is a hill and you only have so many gears to ride through. Leg blaster workouts!
My only complaint is with IFit. No Street View! That was ... (Read more)
Great Concept, Terrible Delivery
By PulpDoc (Ogden, UT) on Jan 12, 2013
Lots of excitement leading up to this purchase - unfortunately the electronics are wo-fully lacking. I try riding a stage on the Tour, going at an 8% decline and the "intelligent" bike adjusts the resistance from super easy to extra difficult. Have contacted Proform MULTIPLE times (6 to be exact) vi... (Read more)
Perfect for training or anytime
By Nelrak (Kentucky) on Feb 15, 2013
I have had my 2012 Le Tour De France for just over a year. I love creating my own routes via iFit.com and setting up my training schedule with the routes I ride during the summer months or places I have or like to go. The bike works great for me. I did upgrade the pedals to Crank Brothers Egg Beater... (Read more)
Works for me.
By Ridestrong (Palmyra, MO) on Nov 23, 2012
I ride it five days a week. I use an iPad to view live progress and street views. Monitoring HR, RPM's, and wattage, allows me to keep my base level of fitness up for weekends with the boys out on the road. So far the only problem, I periodically have to tighten the crank nuts as each one has loo... (Read more)
LE TOUR BIKE POOR BUILD QUALITY/POOR WARRANTY SERVICE
By Drew (Dallas, TX) on Feb 16, 2013
I bought the 2011 Le Tour Trainer for $2,000 new from ICON, and while it is a neat concept, the bike has been NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. In the 2 years I have owned it, the console has been replaced twice (burned out and bad board), crank and flywheel replaced (sheered bolts), incline motor failure and n... (Read more)
Good BUT
By kim (boston) on Jan 30, 2012
Works great- BUT no information on the types of gear shifting
The big question left out is
so if i run the triple crank with the 11-28 cassett
what is the triple crank gearing upfront- no one can answer this
is it 48-38-28??
Great indoor Trainer
By Newfey (Farmington Hills, MI) on Feb 25, 2012
I got off to a rocky start with a defective console and difficulty getting everything up and running. But thanks for the expert help and support from icon/i-Fit Live staff everything is running smoothly now. I now video my own bicycle routes and map them on i-Fit Live, then I project the video on a ... (Read more)
Pay the Extra and get the Gen 2!
By Cycling Newbie (Los Gatos CA) on Mar 18, 2012
I have some experience of both the Gen 1 and Gen 2 bikes and my very firm advice - pay the extra dollars and get the Gen 2, it is MASSIVELY better than the Gen 1.
Several key differences - the biggest is the handlebar shifters, much better than the console buttons on the Gen 1. The bike now feels... (Read more)
Absolutely Fantastic machine
By I love my Tour de France Bike (Houston, TX) on Mar 8, 2013
I bought the Tour de France in December 2011. I used the bike for over a year before I had a problem. The console went dead on me February 28th 2013. As I had purchased an extended warranty with the bike I called and went through very fast to a customer representative. After a couple of minutes on t... (Read more)
