Comments: My new 490 SPX just arrived; after 45 minutes of un-boxing and assembling the bike, I was ready to try it out. For starters, I am very impressed with the sturdiness of this spin bike. Comparing it to other bikes I have tested in stores, this one is heavier, more stable, and feels like health club quality. The flywheel is definitely beefy at 48.5 lbs, which I really like, and the frame is beyond solid. The handle bars seem comfortable and the non-slip grips appear to be of really nice quality; I do not see any future problems with breakdown/tearing. Assembly is rather simple and the instructions are very easy to follow. I will make a few alterations (SPD-SL clipless pedals, racing saddle, higher-grade bottle cage), but those are completely personal preferences – nothing to do with quality of the factory provided features. From reading as many reviews as possible prior to deciding on a spin bike, my biggest concern with the 490 SPX was going to be the noise. After testing it for 20 minutes, I have no clue what some people are complaining about. This spin bike is very quiet and I had no problem whatsoever hearing the television with the volume set at 25 (out of 100). For the price point alone, you cannot go wrong with the 490 SPX. As an avid cyclist and Winter spin-class participant, I highly recommend!
