Don’t Just Look Good, Feel Good
Living a healthy lifestyle means so much more than just looking good. The feeling of being able to move around without aches and pains, the satisfaction of being active with your family without having to sit out because you can’t keep up with the rest of them, the ‘I look good’ feeling when you step out on the beach this summer. Sometimes working out means more—the mental boost that comes along with getting fit is more rewarding than just looking good.
“My name is Lee Labrum. I am a 52 year old wife, mother of six, grandmother. I have always enjoyed the fitness aspect of life. I also enjoy helping others to maintain that and to get that help in their life. I am a certified health coach, I’m a registered nurse, I am a runner, and I enjoy teaching small group fitness classes.
A treadmill is about so much more than just running or walking—you can go sideways, you can go backwards, you can squat, you can lunge, you can practice balance. All those things you can do on the treadmill and it will strengthen. It will strengthen everything from your feet and your ankles to your core. You use your arms—it’ll strengthen your arms, so many things that you can do to benefit without having to run.
The culture today is so visual. If we could take the looks out of it and just say, ‘I feel so much better today than I did a month ago because I am moving more.’ Because I’ve engaged my life in a healthier style of living. Regardless of what scales say. Regardless of what the world may tell you, if you are feeling better, if you’re doing things to enhance your life, you are a success.”
